No.23 Autumn 2004
Announcements

Trust all is well with you all. Did you store your harvest? God blessed us with some fish, veggies…still working on the moose. Our boys both joined the ranks of the Bible college students in Indiana. We're really enjoying Gloria still at home. We love seeing all you again & can hardly wait for the grain supplies to come in.

1 - ORDERING INFORMATION: This FALL Grain order will proceed on the same schedule. Please submit your order by MONDAY, OCTOBER 18th. Lord willing, the goods will arrive the week before Thanksgiving. I added an extra 10% to all the consumable items to help cover the added costs of inventory. For all of you who diligently send me your order on time, you will actually pay the regular price. On the consumable side of your order form, be sure to take the 10% savings when ordering by OCTOBER 18TH. For those ordering in between times, they will pay the list price, the extra 10%. Plan for 6 months, as the next order will arrive in May. Meagan Dowler will handle the Fairbanks shipment this time. Janet Dunivin is on board as usual in Juneau. When these ladies call, please be prompt to pick up your order. We will wait and see if Homer or the Soldotna has the largest orders to determine our grain depot there.

2 - BREAD CLASS - Jamie Hearn in the Turnagain area of Anchorage offered her home for a bread class on Friday, OCTOBER 1ST at 10 am. Give her a call at 276-1055 for directions & sign up for a pizza topping. Be sure to bring a pie plate for take & bake cinnamon rolls.

3 - BOSCH III CLASSES ~~~ We'll head on up to Glennallen, Delta Junction & Fairbanks for classes October 5, 7, & 8. To reserve a spot, call the coordinator. I'm charging $5 at the door to cover ingredients. I think that will be easier than everyone bringing ingredients. First timers, experienced chefs, and budding homemakers are welcome. Check out our machines, books, & enjoy fellowshipping. MENU: Apple Fritter Bread, Pizza Sticks, Oriental Chicken Wraps, Fresh Salad, Pecan Pie, & Loew Family Smoothies

Glennallen Class ~ Tuesday, October 5th at 1pm at Christy LaBouve's home. Contact Christy ~ 822-3041

Delta Class ~ Thursday, October 7th at 10 am - 1 pm will be a bread class. Contact Tisa Hirschel for further details ~ 895-5084

Palmer Class ~ Tuesday, October 12th, here at our home at 10 am. Again, call to reserve a spot - 745-5639.

3 - SPECIAL BOSCH & MILL SALES ~~~ Want a Bosch, but don't need a large 5 ˝ quart bowl? Think about the BOSCH COMPACT MIXER. With a 450 watt motor & a 4 quart bowl, this smaller model makes 2 - 3 loaves of bread. Right now, it comes with a blender, whisks, the same powerful Food Processor as the Universal & an accessory holder ~ all for a smashing $189.00. BOSCH 300 watt HAND MIXER with stainless steel beaters & kneading hooks - $50

Since I won't learn of the fall specials until October 1stL, check the website for the latest info or call after the 1st or come to a class. The last couple of years, we enjoyed some VERY good deals. I will continue the HUNTER'S SPECIAL ~ purchase a BOSCH meat grinder attachment & get a sausage stuffer free, until Christmas. Ruth & Greg's grinder has made slick work of 2 moose so far this season.

4 - WHAT'S NEW??? BRONZE CHIEF HARD RED SPRING BERRIES ~ This is the grain Wheat Montana built their business on. Great for bread, has a nice nutty flavor. Sweetened BANANA CHIPS in a 14 # box. We snacked on these during the summer. YUM!!! There is quite a bit of interest in 5# pails of homogenized PEANUT BUTTER. Take your choice of creamy & crunchy. Most flax fans prefer the flavor of GOLDEN FLAX seeds. Unless you specify that you want brown, I'm just going to order golden in 5# bags. Can't find COCOA POWDER at Costco anymore? I'll add that to the list also.

5 - Most prices held steady, except for Kamut, Swiss Whey, & Brown Rice. Please don't let the added 10% scare you off. Just take the reduction when you place your order prior to the OCTOBER 18TH cutoff.

6 - Last & most exciting, Greg & Ruth will add another 'arrow to their quiver' in April!!!

Wholy Hints

1 - Christmas Gift Ideas ~~~ Bosch Hand Mixer, Bosch Compact Mixer, Coffee Mill, Hearth & Home, Ruth's CDs, America's God & Country Encyclopedia of Quotes ~~~ A jar of Banana Chips, Homemade Granola, Brownie Mix or pancake mix is always welcome. Who wouldn't enjoy a loaf of bread?

2 - Use your Food Processor for pumpkin pie. I pour all the ingredients in & run for a minute or two. Pour into your shell & bake. It's a snap!!! It also does an effortless job of blending all your favorite ingredients for a sandwich spread. Why buy an expensive jar when you can make your own?

3 - Use your slicer/shredder to process vegetables for canning & freezing. I used both the slicer blade & the French Fry blade to cut up beets for the freezer this year. I also buy onions & green peppers in bulk. To keep them from deteriorating, I run them through the French Fry blade & throw them in sandwich bags for the freezer. Try the coarse grating blade for zucchini & carrots. They keep well in the freezer also.

4 - Low fat frosting - Cook up some diced apricots. Puree in the blender or Food Processor. Add a carton of vanilla yogurt, a little sugar, & cinnamon. Serve on carrot cake, reducing the cream cheese calories.

5 - Eat 1 - 2 tablespoons of FLAX SEED MEAL in something everyday. The health benefits are tremendous!!! Lowers cholesterol, improves heart health, digestion, elimination, & fights off cancer chances & tumors. For pennies a day, FLAX SEEDS are God's powerhouse of health.

6 - What is the price tag for a healthy body? Baking & eating homemade, whole grain foods is the most nutritious, cheapest, handiest way to heartily serve your family. God will bless you for training your children to eat healthy. It pays huge dividends in years to come.

7 - Need BOSCH parts? Just give me a call. We have some on hand or we can have them drop shipped. Whatever works to keep those Bosch Machines up & running.

8 - BOSCH or KITCHEN AID??? That is the question. For bread, the BOSCH gets the unanimous vote. For cookies & muffins, several of my customers still like the Kitchen Aid. Please try this if you aren't totally pleased with the BOSCH for pastry type goodies....Remove the dough guard from the center post and let your whip drive sit right on top of the center post. I think this will solve your problem. Cindy Shoemaker was thrilled with his quick remedy.

With homeschooling in full swing by now, turn your budding homemakers loose with the KID SMART cookbook. They can whip up a Yummy Pizza, Honeyed Sesame Chicken, or Kid's Zucchini Lasagna. They could also make Teething Cookies or Mineral Rich Fluid for Babies for siblings or neighbors. The chapter on 'Handling Common Childhood Ailments' helps Mom build a natural home health kit that can also be used for travel and camping.

Wholy Thoughts

I try to impart some inspirational thoughts to you, my special friends & customers. This edition pays honor to whom honor is due - my mentor, my friend, my confidant ~~~ Sylvia Wolf. I first met Sylvia when John & I commenced to courting. She sponsored him into the Amway business way back in the early 70's. While attending all the meetings, I studied Sylvia. Warm, personable, a role model for this 20+ year old, I looked to Sylvia for advise, guidance and leadership. God used her to prepare me with the skills and experience to coordinate the many facets of Wholy Living. Sylvia taught us how to demonstrate products, talk to customers, inventory, keep books, be diligent in business, and keep a balance in life. But above all that, her main focus was always on the individual - their needs, witnessing and sharing Jesus. Amway was her vehicle of ministry. When we celebrated her Diamond Distributorship at the newly built Sheraton Hotel, I shared with the audience Sylvia's personification of I Corinthians 13:4-8a Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth… and Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Sylvia always exemplifies agape love to all she meets, as well as the Fruit of the Spirit. With all her accomplishments and influence, Sylvia "is not puffed up." You will never meet a more humble servant than Sylvia. Today, Sylvia suffers from the debilitating effects of Lou Gehrig's disease. Please pray for her and her faithful husband Dan who cares for Sylvia and his 90 year old mother. Even though her mouth is silent, her eyes light up a room with the love of Jesus. She is still faithfully witnessing to the lost, giving and sharing.

Sylvia, thank you for letting your light so shine before men, that we can see Jesus in you. Thank you for giving of yourself for others and for me.

We never know how our lives affect others. In the end not much else matters. The only thing we can take to Heaven are the souls of those we've won to Jesus. Remember ~~~ Only one life twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Wholy yours,
Margaret
